Romeo and Juliet essay

                                                                   Romeo and Juliet Essay

In the book “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet fall in love. In the story the love is powerful enough to change Romeo’s personality from sad and depressed to social and happy. Romeo’s personality change varies throughout the story from the beginning to the end
In the beginning of the story Romeo is very sad, he doesn’t want to socialize with anyone. He is just moping around as seen in this quote from the text “Tut, I have lost myself. I am not here. This is not Romeo. He is some other where”. This shows that before he fell in love with Juliet, Romeo was anti-social and distant from his friends and family. He doesn’t feel a drive to do anything.
In the middle of the book, after Romeo has fallen in love with Juliet, he has changed since earlier in the story. Now Romeo is social and is hanging out with his friends, and isn’t secluded from society. Romeo is more outgoing as shown by this piece of the text “for Mercutio’s soul is but a little above our heads, stying for thine to keep him company. Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him”. Romeo chases down Tybalt with intent to kill him, because Tybalt had killed Mercutio. In the beginning of the story Romeo would not have done the same thing as he did later, showing that falling in love has changed him.
At the end of the story Romeo, does something extremely drastic, that he would not have done had he never met Juliet. Romeo believes Juliet is dead, and thinks he can’t live without her. Romeo kills himself because he can’t be with Juliet anymore. This piece of evidence from the text proves that Romeo kills himself because he believes Juliet to be dead “Here’s to my love, O true apothecary, thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die”. In the beginning Romeo doesn’t want to do anything or be with anyone and by the end of the story, he’s killing himself over one girl. This is a drastic change from the beginning of the story.

In conclusion, Romeo falling in love with Juliet caused his personality to change. In the beginning of the story, Romeo is sad and depressed and isn’t very social. In the middle of the story, Romeo has already fallen in love with Juliet and he has become social. He was hanging out with his friends and Romeo become outgoing enough to kill someone, because they killed his friend. At the end of the story, Romeo goes as far as to end his life, because he can’t be with this one girl. All these points show how Romeo has changed since falling in love with Juliet.
